The LSU Health Shreveport School of Allied Health Professions in Shreveport, LA invites applications for a leadership position as the Program Director of the Physician Assistant Program: Master of Physician Assistant Studies. The position is a full-time, tenure or non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor, with negotiable rank and salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The LSU Health Shreveport PA Program is a fully accredited, long-standing program established in 1994. It is twenty-seven-months in length and offers a thorough education in line with profession-defined competencies. The program's mission is to provide a primary care curriculum to prepare competent, professionally engaged PAs to provide health care for Louisiana citizens. In addition to the Program Director position, the department consists of 5.75 full time faculty members, including the Associate Program Director/Director of Assessment, Director of Didactic Education and Director of Clinical Education; the department also consists of one full time administrative assistant.

Candidates should embody the institution's core values and mission and should be well versed in leadership, organization, and administration to ensure effective delivery of the program's curriculum. Candidates should be comfortable working with other faculty members in the program, school, and institution as we strive toward an interdisciplinary curriculum.

Responsibilities: Administrative duties, scholarship, teaching and service.

Administration

  • Serve as the Chief Administrator for the Physician Assistant Program
  • Ensure delivery of curriculum and program administration and direction in compliance with ARC-PA standards
  • Lead faculty, medical director, and staff
  • Manage the program budget
  • Maintain student records
  • Provide leadership and/or appoint the faculty chair of the accreditation committee, admissions committee, and scholarship committee
  • Represent the program at all official functions of the School of Allied Health Professions, LSU Health Sciences Center and LSU System

Scholarship

  • Develop research goals
  • Mentor program faculty in research
  • Publish research results in peer-reviewed literature

Teaching

  • Perform instructional duties in area of expertise
  • Monitor the academic progress of students in the program
  • Support faculty in development of teaching skills

Service

  • Option to practice up to 20% of time in a clinical setting

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

 

Master's degree or higher

Minimum 3 years of full-time academic experience in higher education

NCCPA Certified

Eligible for Louisiana licensure as a PA

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

Three years clinical experience

Doctoral degree

Experience in service or leadership in a PA program
