Program Director

OVERVIEW OF POSITION

Trevecca Nazarene University (TNU) Physician Assistant (PA) Program is currently seeking a highly qualified, collaborative leader for the position of PA Program Director. The Program Director oversees program personnel, resources, planning, development, curriculum, assessment, and accreditation and must serve to support and advocate for the goals and mission of the program and University. This is a full-time, 12-month, faculty role with administrative responsibilities. The Program Director reports directly to the Dean of the School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and will work collaboratively with PA Program faculty/staff and University leadership to achieve successful program outcomes.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Include but are not limited to):

• Provide oversight and general supervision for the PA Program Medical Director, Principal and Instructional Faculty, and Staff in activities directly related to the PA program, including responsibility for recruitment and retention of personnel, responding to needs and concerns, and assisting with the crafting of goals and professional development plans.
• Exercise responsibility and provide oversight for ongoing program evaluation, assessment, reporting, compliance, and accreditation, including:
  • Developing and overseeing rigorous and continuous processes for program self-analysis that aid in accreditation compliance and formulation of data-driven action plans that improve program outcomes.
  • Completing required ARC-PA documents and ensuring that the program and University adhere to the ARC-PA Standards and policies.
  • Coordinating with and providing guidance and recommendations to Program Faculty/Staff and University leadership on requirements and best practices pertaining to program accreditation compliance.
• Oversee the design, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the program curriculum, including the didactic and clinical phases, in collaboration with PA Program faculty and staff.
• Demonstrate responsibility for and active participation in the following processes, along with PA Program Principal Faculty:
  • Developing, reviewing, and revising as necessary the mission statement, goals, and competencies of the program.
  • Selecting applicants for admission to the PA program.
  • Providing student instruction, evaluating student performance, and assuring the availability of remedial instruction.
  • Providing academic counseling for students.
• Demonstrate competence and responsibility in the areas of program organization, administration, planning, and development.
• Collaborate with the Dean of the School of STEM and the University Provost to advocate for needed resources and effectively manage the program budget.
• Advocate for and represent the program and University through various networking, community, and professional development activities.
• Perform the duties of a TNU faculty member as identified in the TNU Faculty Handbook.
• Work in partnership with relevant university offices to supply necessary programmatic information.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduate of an accredited PA program.
• Master's degree in an applicable field (doctoral degree preferred).
• Current license or eligible for licensure as a PA in the state of Tennessee.
• Current certification as a PA-C by the NCCPA.
• Three or more years of full-time higher education experience within a PA program as principal faculty and/or as an administrative appointment within PA program leadership.
• Applicable experience in leadership (PA program leadership experience and/or demonstrated successful leadership experience with the ARC-PA accreditation process are preferred).
• Two or more years of clinical practice experience as a PA.

• Strong desire to advocate for and embody the mission and values of the University and the PA Program.
• Graduate-level teaching experience (experience with PA program teaching and curriculum development preferred)
• Strong collaborative, visionary, and servant leadership abilities and interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Supervisory and management skills, with responsiveness to pertinent personnel needs and issues.
• Proactive problem-solving ability.
• Effective time- and project-management skills.

The Trevecca Nazarene University PA Program has a rich history of being the first and longest-tenured program in Tennessee, offering all new on-campus facilities and clinical experiences in diverse settings. The PA Program is 27 months in duration and matriculates each May with a maximum class size of 50 students.
