Program Director DMSc Program

Springfield College invites applications for the position of Program Director for a new innovative Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) program in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies. This is a full-time 12-month program-track faculty position, at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

In addition to Physician Assistant Studies, the School of Health Sciences includes programs in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Public Health, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Speech-Language Pathology, Gerontology, Health Science, and Emergency Medical Services. The School is housed in spectacular new Health Sciences Center. Our stellar interprofessional facilities include: a simulation suite featuring new high-fidelity simulation and standardized participant programming; a maker space enabling a vast array of creative projects supporting health and wellness; a data visualization laboratory; an activities of daily living suite to promote real-life applications of rehabilitation and emergency medical practices; a sunlit human donor anatomy lab; classrooms, conference rooms, and several laboratories-all with state-of-the art technology. Interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, engaged student learning, as well as global, intergenerational, and multicultural perspectives are priorities of the School.

Responsibilities

The new DMSc program will strategically equip PA leaders with knowledge and skills in medical education and healthcare leadership. The program will be delivered asynchronously and online. Reporting to the department chair, the Program Director champions the overall success of the program. They are responsible for the program's quality, organization, administration, fiscal management, planning, development, review, and assessment. Faculty responsibilities include teaching and advising students, professional service, and scholarly activity.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include: a doctoral degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D., DMSc, DHSc); one year of experience in a leadership position supervising and mentoring faculty and staff in higher education; one year of experience developing and delivering online graduate-level courses, eligibility for PA licensure in Massachusetts; and NCCPA certification. Preferred qualifications include three years of experience as a faculty member in healthcare administration and medical education; effective interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) to interact effectively with prospective applicants, campus administrators, faculty and staff; ability to plan, manage and implement strategy for building a program; strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to operate an online learning management system while maintaining a high level of customer service; ability to interpret accurately and explain thoroughly college, school, department, and program policies and procedures; demonstrated ability to work successfully with diverse populations and commitment to promote and enhance diversity, equity and inclusion.
