Western Michigan University invites applications and nominations for the position of Faculty Specialist I – Instructor in the Physician Assistant Department. This is a full-time, fiscal-year, term (one-year) appointment with a start date of January 1, 2024.

Major Responsibilities:

-Teaching courses in the undergraduate and professional curriculum

-Participation in the accreditation process

-Serve as advisor to Physician Assistant students

-Assist with admissions process including application review and interviews

-Perform other duties as directed by the Program Director

-Service to the Department, the University, the profession, and the community

-Contributing to an interdisciplinary environment of research, instruction, and community collaboration

 

Qualifications:

 

-Must be eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan

-NCCPA Certification

-Earned Master’s degree

-Three years of clinical experience as a practicing, licensed PA

-Clinical teaching experience (preceptor) or classroom teaching experience

Department:   The Physician Assistant Department provides a Master’s degree program in Medicine, which prepares graduates for licensure as a Physician Assistant. The Physician Assistant Department fully supports the College and University’s mission to provide exemplary teaching, learning and mentoring experiences for students as well as promotes and supports an active research/grant agenda for faculty.
