Job Description

The Physician Assistant Studies Program at Augsburg University invites candidates to apply for a position as a full-time, non-tenure track faculty member. This renewable 3-year special appointment provides an opportunity to teach in an inclusive, hands-on classroom, lab, and community-based setting, including the Augsburg Health Commons. A PA faculty’s role is to be primary instructor for academic courses and sharing responsibility for teaching across the curriculum in their area of expertise. Specifically, faculty develop course content and teach students through lectures, physical exam and technical skills instruction, facilitating small group and case-based learning, grading and coaching/advising students. All faculty members are also engaged in departmental and university assessment, professional development, and accreditation compliance.

Augsburg PA trains empathic, community-minded, and forward-thinking health care leaders to practice in primary care with a focus on underserved, underrepresented, and marginalized communities. Specializing in team-based learning for team-based patient care, Augsburg’s PA program values connection, inclusion, and innovation. As the first accredited PA program in Minnesota, Augsburg PA prepares students to be practice-ready through case-based learning, projects, and hands-on skills, including mannequin-based simulation and point of care ultrasound. Successful candidates should be a self-motivated team member, looking to grow their educational and professional experience, as well as the program's. This person will work well in collaboration with a cohesive and experienced group of faculty and professional staff.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in PA studies or related discipline, doctoral degree preferred.
  • Current NCCPA certification
  • Eligibility for PA licensure in Minnesota.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience as a PA.
  • Previous in-person or virtual teaching experience within a PA educational program
  • Demonstrated organizational and professional skills
  • Proficiency in using spreadsheet software
