Volunteering with PAEA

Volunteering with PAEA is one of the most effective ways members can shape PA education on the national level. When I started my own PAEA volunteer journey as a member of the Retention and Recruitment subcommittee of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee in 2013, I found a space where I could lend my voice to influence the Association’s work and make a lasting difference for PA students, programs, and our profession. Each of us brings a unique perspective to our work as educators and medical professionals – volunteering with PAEA means sharing that perspective in service of our common mission to advance excellence in PA education.

I was drawn to volunteer with PAEA because it provided the opportunity to work in coalition with other passionate, creative PA educators that are invested in shaping a future for our profession that reflects the values of its members. The diversity of our perspectives contributes to a greater good within our community. We share these perspectives with our students every day in the classroom and at clinical sites. Equally as important, volunteering with PAEA provides the opportunity to share our perspectives and lend support to each other.

Because of the diversity, creative problem solving, and on-the-ground expertise that PAEA volunteers bring to their roles, our professional community is positioned to expand its influence over the next 50 years. The ability to come together in service to our profession is what makes our community of PA educators so effective as advocates and change-makers.
